Quick Update on THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES TV Series; Pilot Is Written But Fuller Is Out

To say we’re looking forward to the TV series based on Anne Rice’s popular The Vampire Chronicles books would be quite an understatement, which is why we’re always on the lookout for even the tiniest bit of news about the upcoming show.  Today we have two items to share with you guys…

First off, we learned from Anne herself that Hannibal and American Gods exec producer/writer Bryan Fuller is no longer involved with the project as he “chose to move on” this past February. While we are big fans of Fuller around these parts, there was a small part of me that wasn’t quite sure he was the right guy for The Chronicles so I remain optimistic that this small hiccup will result in even bigger and better things in the future.

Secondly, the best news of the week as far as we’re concerned is that Christopher Rice, who is penning the series, has completed the pilot episode, which is titled “Wolf Killer.” You can see his official Facebook post about it below.  It’s not clear if the series is going to be called The Vampire Lestat or if that’s just a temporary title – we’ll do some digging.

As a reminder, in the spring of 2017 Paramount Television and Anonymous Content optioned the rights to 11 books from acclaimed author Anne Rice’s bestselling series The Vampire Chronicles. Christopher Rice, four-time New York Times Bestselling® author and recipient of the Lambda Literary Award, will pen the series and serve as executive producer alongside Ms. Rice and Anonymous Content’s David Kanter and Steve Golin.

That’s all we have now… stay tuned for more updates as they come!
