When it comes to metal, there are some who seek out the heaviest of the heavy. Not content with symphonic metal, power metal, NWOBHM, or any of that foo-foo shit*, these people seek the darkest of the dark, the blackest of the black, and the…distortdest of the distorted? Sure, let’s go with that.

Bearing that in mind, I want to introduce you to Copenhagen, Denmark’s Cabal, a quintet comprised of Chris, Sakhi, Malthe, Nikolaj, and Andreas. These fellas are intent on bringing forth a slab of pure viciousness and destruction with their upcoming album Mark of Rot (out February 23 via Long Branch Records). Mixing doom with an almost Villdhjarta-esque djent approach, Mark of Rot is nothing less than the soundtrack to a horde of marching titans, intent on leveling and destroying all in their path.

To celebrate their upcoming album release, we got the band to share four of their favorite horror-inspired music videos. If you like your metal to have some horror thrown in the mix, these clips are sure to satisfy that itch!

You can follow Cabal on both Facebook and Instagram. Choose how you want to pre-order Mark of Rot right here.

Behemoth – “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel”

This video is one of main sources of inspiration for our own videos, the imagery is so visceral yet still visually stunning and almost iconic, and it doesn’t hurt that the track is a banger as well.

Code Orange – “Forever”

Yet another dark and visually stunning video with a killer track to accompany it, we really dig the dark and creepy vibe, also the nod to their ‘I Am King’ video from their previous release is really cool.

Black Tongue – “In the Wake ov the Wolf”

You don’t need to be a genius to figure out that we have been heavily influenced by this band. The almost stop-motion like twitching and movements of the band creates a really nice and creepy atmosphere, that we really dig.

Meshuggah – “Bleed”

Yet another band that we are heavily inspired by, this track is an absolute classic and the video is a surreal journey into a twisted and dark universe that we find truly awe-inspiring.
