Bava’s in Room 213
While we’ve not seen much by Lamberto Bava (son of Mario) here in the states for a while, it’s not for lack of output.
His last two films, Ghost Son and The Torturer, have yet to find anyone in the US who will distribute them, which is pretty weird when you consider the amount of un-asked for horror films by people like Ulli Lommel. Ugh.
Recently Lamberto discussed his next film, tentatively called Room 213, with the folks at Fangoria and gave a bit of info as to what it’ll be about; “It’s a psychological thriller about a girl who is studying a serial killer. The killer is still alive, but he has been in a coma for six years. However, someone starts to kill again in the same style as him—but is it just a copycat or could it be something else? It is very strong—very bloody,”
Funny how the term “psychological thriller” can include a movie with lots of bloodshed in Italian cinema, whereas here in the U.S. it more or less means you won’t see a drop of red stuff. Bava didn’t say when he’d start the film, but did confirm it will be before he directs an episode of Masters of Italian Horror, and idea he’s been kicking around for years.
Wish you were the son of a genius in our forums!
