Square Enix has announced that that French developer Sushee is working on a remake of the 2000 action horror title Fear Effect, titled Fear Effect: Reinvented, and that the game will be coming out on all platforms (PC, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One) in 2018. Sushee is the company that is also making Fear Effect: Sedna, an action strategy game that will be coming out later this year.

Fear Effect allowed players to take on the role of one of three mercenaries who are searching for a young woman in Hong Kong. The game included elements of Triad gangs as well as Chinese ritualistic sacrifices and supernatural mythology. It utilized cel-shading, FMV backgrounds, puzzles, and tank controls that had the exception of allowing players to run and gun at the same time, unlike in Resident Evil where only one action could be performed at a time.
