UK’s Mayhem Festival Announces a Friday Treat

With its 13th edition fast approaching, the UK’s Mayhem Film Festival has announced the first three titles from its 2017 programme. Given that the festival’s schedule falls on Friday the 13th this year, it was only safe to assume Jason would make an appearance… but fans of the hockey-masked miscreant are truly in for a surprising treat.
First, though, let’s talk the other two titles confirmed in the festival’s first announcement…
Mayhem 2017 will open with a preview screening of Benjamin Barfoot’s Double Date, which will be followed by a Q&A with members of the cast and crew. Double Date follows mild-mannered and innocent Jim as he attempts to lose his virginity on the eve of his 30th birthday… but the beautiful sisters he and his friend Alex have met for the night may have darker plans in mind. Guests for this event will be announced later in the summer.
Next up is the hilarious Top Knot Detective, an Australian mockumentary about a 90s Japanese samurai/detective series known in Japan as ‘Ronin Suiri Tentai’ (‘Deductive Reasoning Ronin’) but known in Australia as ‘Top Knot Detective’. Battling ninjas, monsters, outrageous behaviour, and killer lines, it has it all and is not to be missed!
And now for the big one: To celebrate its 13th edition, Mayhem Film Festival will screen Friday the 13th Part III: 3D on Friday 13 October. Get your red and green glasses ready!
