The Girl Next Door Emerges
Few books have set off more controversy than Jack Ketchum’s The Girl Next Door (review here).
When the announcement first came that it was being adapted for the big screen, the only thing I prayed for is that it wouldn’t be watered down. According to our film review of The Girl Next Door, things didn’t turn out so hot. Still, that’s just one person’s opinion so the rest of us will have to wait and see when the flick comes out.
Speaking of which … Fango got word today from filmmaker Andrew van den Houten about the film’s release. “We’re very excited to be announcing that the official release of The Girl Next Door will be happening theatrically on a limited basis in November, and it will be coming out on DVD nationwide in December. We’re in the final stages of negotiating the deal right now, and [the novel’s publisher] Leisure Books is also very excited in anticipation of this classic story being brought to the screen on a large scale domestically.“
Here’s to hoping for the best. *gulp*
