Some tragic news has come in this weekend as yet another wonderful actor has been taken from us entirely too soon. Nelsan Ellis, the actor who starred in HBO’s “True Blood” as Lafayette Reynolds, has died, his manager Emily Gerson Saines told The Hollywood Reporter. He was 39.

Nelsan has passed away after complications with heart failure,” Saines said. “He was a great talent, and his words and presence will be forever missed.

In addition to “True Blood,” Ellis also starred in 2015’s The Stanford Prison Experiment and many other projects, including a stint on “Veronica Mars.” He also wrote and directed the short film Page 36 and the 2013 documentary Damn Wonderful.

We here at Dread Central would like to offer our sincerest of condolences to Nelsan’s friends, family members, and constituents. Rest in peace, good sir. You will be missed.

Nelsan Ellis
