In the new indie horror flick If a Tree Falls, more kids get in a car for a scenic trip through the countryside and make it to their destination, happy and unscathed. Of course I’m bullshitting. That would be a completely awful movie, no?

From the Press Release
Independent Canadian horror director Philip Carrer (PGC) (DESPERATE SOULS, KILL, IF A TREE FALLS, and, in pre-production, IN THE HOUSE OF FLIES) and producer Chad Archibald, (SWEET KARMA, NEVERLOST, BAIL ENFORCERS) have just unleashed the latest and final release poster for IF A TREE FALLS (Official Selection, Fantasia Film Festival 2010) – the latest Canadian addition to the genre.

Additionally, If A Tree Falls is pleased to announce that it also has secured a distribution deal for its release in Canada this summer.

A very special announcement on the film will be made public at Shock Stock 2011 (April 29th-May 1st in London, Ontario, Canada) with more news on additional release dates and other exciting updates.

If A Tree Falls (review here) “will make a sound” on DVD and Blu-ray across Canada this summer, with dates for the USA and Europe to follow.

PGC will also announce his latest addition to the cast of In the House of Flies, his upcoming feature currently in pre-production.

Synopsis
In Canada about eight percent of all homicide incidents are murder-suicides. Ninety percent of murder-suicides are family-related.

Brad, Will, Nessa, and Lisa are four lifelong family friends in their twenties, who set out to cross Eastern Canada for a family reunion through the scenic countryside. On a blistering hot summer day, the trouble begins when they find an appealing place to stop for the night. The group thinks they have found the perfect haven, when they are awakened by strange noises in the forest.

What ensues is a violent disturbance by six masked assailants – without motive, without reason. The group finds themselves living in a night of psychological games and physical terror. As morning dawns, the reality of what will come is more terrifying than anything the group could have imagined.
