Orphange Opens Sitges 07!
Man, feels like it was just yesterday we were salivating over the 2006 lineup for Sitges, and already we’re staring down the barrel of the first announcements for 2007. So far it sounds like it’s going to be yet another amazing entry in the Spanish film festival’s 40-year run of kicking ass.
Aullidos got word today that the festival, which runs this October 4th-14th, will open with J.A. Bayona’s The Orphanage, which was produced by Guillermo del Toro, and will feature films like the Jaume Balaguero/Paco Plaza collaboration Rec, Park Chan-wook’s excellent I’m A Cyborg But That’s OK, The Fall by Tarsem (The Cell) Sigh and a film called Butterfly on a Wheel, a horror movie with Pierce Brosnan, Mario Bello and Gerard Butler.
In addition to all that, George Romero will be a special guest this year and receive the Time Machine Award, and who knows, maybe he’ll bring along Diary of the Dead with him! For more on this year’s Sitges Film Festival, be sure to whack their official site!
