A couple of weeks ago, we posted that Jeff Goldlbum had officially signed on to play in Jurassic World 2, presumably to reprise his Jurassic Park role as Dr. Ian Malcolm. Talking with EW, Goldblum described his character as, “…a saucy, sassy man of some integrity and deep thinking.” Yup, sounds like Dr. Malcolm, alright!

Continuing, he told the site, “Even though some might say it’s popcorn-y entertainment (top-notch, of course), in our conversation [director J.A. Bayona] was very focused on the serious issues of greed as it oftentimes comes up in those movies, and the marvels of science and reason and the very fascinating point at which our species finds itself both in real life and in this imaginary world too.

Chris Pratt stars alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, Toby Jones, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Ted Levine, Rafe Spall, James Cromwell, and Daniella Pineda. J.A. Bayona is on board to direct with Frank Marshall producing along with Pat Crowley and Belén Atienza.

Colin Trevorrow, who helmed Jurassic World, penned the script with his writing partner, Derek Connolly. Trevorrow will also executive produce with Steven Spielberg. VP of production Sara Scott is overseeing production on behalf of Universal.

Universal has set June 22nd, 2018, as the release date.
