The Cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reunited for 20th Anniversary Photos

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Joss Whedon’s wildly popular TV series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. After running for seven seasons – not to mention the spinoff series “Angel”, which ran for five seasons – the Scooby gang of Sunnydale finished their story and were able to each go their own separate ways. Now, 20 years after it first premiered, the majority of the main character crew got together for a photoshoot with EW, which resulted in the fantastic stills that you can see below.

In talking with EW, Whedon explained that while he could see how a reunion series might work, that just isn’t in the cards. “I’ve been trying deliberately to move forward and do something a little bit different,” he states. “But yeah, the great thing is everybody looks great, and the other great thing is the show is about growing up. If we did it with these guys, they’d be the age they basically are. They’d probably play a little younger because they can do that. But yeah, you’d see somebody going through their life at a different stage. It wouldn’t be like, ‘I can’t believe we’re still in high school! I wear Depends!’

Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar lays it a bit more deliberately by saying, “I’m sure the fans are incredibly disappointed to hear that answer, but I think they’d be more disappointed if we created something and it didn’t live up to the expectation. And I love that it can live in comic form and graphic novels.

So for those of you wanting to see the Scooby gang come together again for more slaying action, I’d recommend heading to your local comic book store as that’s where the series seems to be living a wonderful and interesting life.
