Here’s More Concept Art From the Upcoming Godzilla Anime

Back in August, we posted that Toho Animation was working on an anime entry in their long-running Godzilla series. No new information about the film has been released in terms of story, theatrical dates, or anything along those lines BUT there are two new concept art images that have been released, both of which can be seen below.

These images seem to confirm the theories that the first spurred, which was that this film takes place in a futuristic setting as well as on a planet that isn’t our own. There definitely is a very alien feeling to the lush flora that is prevalent in these two images.

Toho Animation is preparing this animated feature for theatrical release sometime next year via Polygon Pictures (Star Wars: The Clone Wars). It will be co-directed by Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan, Knights of Sidonia) and CG director Hiroyuki Seshita (the Final Fantasy movie franchise, Ajin: Demi-Human). Gen Urobuchi (Psycho-Pass, Gargantia) will write from his own concept.

Confirmed voice actors include Yuki Kaji, Takahiro Sakurai, Tomokazu Sugita, Junichi Suwabe, Kana Hanazawa, and Mamoru Miyano. According to ANN, there will be an event for the film at AnimeJapan 2017, which takes place on Sunday, March 26th.
