Box Office Report: People Got Out for Get Out!
It was a HUGE weekend at the box office for Get Out (review)! It rode high with a 100% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes into and for the majority of the weekend (it’s now at 99% thanks to only one negative review), but that was just the beginning!
At the end of Oscar weekend, Get Out had pulled in an estimated $30.5 million in 2,781 theaters for a very respectable $10,976 per screen average. It toppled The LEGO Batman Movie and took the number one spot with ease.
Elsewhere in horror box office news, Universal’s The Great Wall (review) fell 52.9% to the number 4 spot, making $8.7 million for the weekend for a total of $34 million domestically over two weeks.
As for Split (review), it continues raking in cash… this weekend found it in the number 9 spot with $4.1 million for a six-week total of over $130.8 million.
Fox’s A Cure for Wellness (review) dropped 68.4% to number 14 for the week, adding only $335,000 for a total of $7.4 million domestic. Too bad, too. Cure is a fantastic film. Maybe it will find its audience on home video?
Stay tuned for more as we get it!
