Have you ever played Shadowrun? It’s a very famous tabletop sci-fi/RPG that takes place in the future and sees humans and mythical beasts share the streets of our cities and towns. Furthermore, magical abilities become reality and children conceived from human parents may come out as elves or other kinds of strange creatures. It’s consistently been one of the most popular titles of its kind and it seems that the folks over at Netflix have used it as inspiration for their upcoming original film Bright.

Directed by David Ayer, who reunites with his Suicide Squad cast of Will Smith and Joel Edgerton, the film imagines our world but with the aforementioned mystical beasts living side-by-side with humans. As a result, when crimes are committed by other species, it takes some delicacy to work out a solution.

A teaser trailer for the film has been released and can be seen below, although you’re not going to get much story out of it. Furthermore, Bright doesn’t come out until December this year, which makes me wonder why they would start the marketing campaign so far out. Releasing announcements makes sense but showing me a trailer? C’mon, I’m going to forget this movie even existed until the next trailer hits the web.

Synopsis:
Set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves, and fairies have been co-existing since the beginning of time. Bright is genre-bending action movie that follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward (Will Smith) and Jakoby (Joel Edgerton), embark on a routine patrol night and encounter a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it.
