Universal released news today regarding another new reboot of The Wolf Man as THR is reporting that Expendables writer Dave Callaham will work on the script for a new film based on the 1941 Universal movie.

The studio is launching its monsters universe, a series of interconnected monster films based on its vault of classic movies, with The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe. Directed by Alex Kurtzman, it is set to hit theaters June 9, 2017. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man and Bride of Frankenstein are among the classic creatures that will be included in the new universe, overseen by Kurtzman (Star Trek) and Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious).

Prisoners scribe Aaron Guzikowski wrote the first draft of The Wolf Man, which is being produced by Kurtzman and Morgan. The Wolf Man was a 1941 Universal film directed by George Waggner that starred Lon Chaney Jr. as a man who returns to his homeland where he is attacked and becomes a werewolf.

Executive vp Jon Mone and vp Jay Polidoro will oversee production on behalf of Universal.
