Never Mind the Twilight Fans and Their Teams! The Time has Come for Horror Fans to Pick a Meatier Side!
For every rabid Twilight fan there are a million more of us who couldn’t care less. Where’s our awesome merch featuring Team of our own choosing that are not hunky men children but that actually mean something in horror?! Well, let me tell you, they exist, and I want you to know about a couple.
First up, Fright Rags pays homage to everyone’s favorite mullet wearing badass, David from The Lost Boys. The shirt itself is called “Team David” but as you can see there are no tags of the sort. It shows in vivid detail David holding the severed head of Edward Cullen with “I Ruined Vampires” carved ever so delicately into his forehead. The shirts are available on their website, and if you sign up for their newsletter you save 10% off of your first purchase!
The next of these “Team” shirts comes direct from the twisted brain of Mike Baronas, head of Paura Productions, which brings Italian horror cinema stars to conventions and other events. Baronas is also the man behind Paura: Lucio Fulci Remembered, a four-hour documentary which delves into the madness/genius of Fulci.
The shirts pose the question, Team Dario or Team Lucio? Taken straight from the press release:
“On the heels of Eclipse, the 3rd installment of The Twilight Saga, we happen to be much more interested in the authentic cinematic rivalry from days of yore between directors Lucio Fulci and Dario Argento.
The pair were at the top of their creative games in the early Seventies to mid Eighties and followed somewhat similar career paths during that time period. While reports of their competitiveness have often been greatly exaggerated, many fans of these cult legends have a decided preference.
Conceived by Euro-horror aficionado and agent Mike Baronas of Paura Productions and designed by the lovely and talented Jill Van Voorst of LIX, the intention of these high-quality 100% cotton t-shirts (available in sizes Small – 5XL) is obvious: Who does the counter-culture think the true Maestro of Italian Gore is?
Pre-orders have begun at PauraProd.com (with a shipping date of August 11, 2010 or sooner) and will also be available at a convention near you!”
