Universal Looking to Take a Maximum Ride
Looks like the big screen adaptation of the James Patterson young adult series Maximum Ride is in the market for a new home after Sony let it slide into turnaround. It’s next stop? Universal!
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog, the James Patterson book property is now close to being snapped up by Universal. Catherine Hardwicke remains attached to direct with Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Steven Paul producing. Along with the change in studio the project will also be home to a new script by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Iron Man, Cowboys and Aliens).
The five-volume series by James Patterson chronicles six teens, known as the Flock, who are genetically altered so that they are part human and part bird. Learning to fly, they escape the laboratory where they have been housed and are pursued by a pack of creatures called the Erasers that are part human and part wolf.
