Production Begins on Remake of The Corpse Grinders
Released in 1971, director Ted V. Mikels’ low-budget film The Corpse Grinders has become something of a cult classic over the years, though we can’t say we ever expected it’d get the remake treatment. That said, a remake is indeed in the works, and we’ve just gotten word that production has begun. Read on for all the details!
The film centers on Landau, owner of the Lotus Cat Food Company, who has run into financial trouble. He winds up killing one of his employees and disposing of the body by grinding it up and putting it in his product. Suddenly, sales start to spike, leading to more disappearances; one of the victims is a man named Frank, whose girlfriend Tessie sets out find him.
One major difference will separate the reboot from the original, director Timo Rose recently told Fangoria.
“I don’t want to see cats killing people,” said Rose. “I want to see Landau killing people. It’s time to retell the whole story from the beginning. It is a reboot, and it is something different and very new. It’s a modern version of bone-crushing terror, bloody and scary.”
Max Evans, Enya Maria Tames, and Yazmeen Baker star.
