Terrance Zdunich’s portrait of a dysfunctional American family in the 90’s, The Molting, has just dropped Chapter 3 on an unassuming public. It’s called “Ootheca” after the hardened case in which fertile females of the American cockroach lay their eggs.

The title relates to how the females within the Pryzkind family also seek to seduce and reproduce … but they keep their intentions better concealed. Intentions which are hidden away like the secrets in Guilty Susie’s lonely attic. [The story is] set against a decaying urban landscape in Anaheim, California, home to the “Happiest Place on Earth”, [and] traverses human history — from Upper Paleolithic hunting parties to Southern Gothic grotesqueries — to explore the family’s roots and secrets.

Zdunich, who is self-distributing The Molting‘s 12-chapter series, is planning to take “Guilty Susie” on tour so that he can meet fans and give them a taste of the new world he created face to face. Currently issues are on sale exclusively via TerranceZdunich.com and The Molting’s official site.
