An adaptation of Jeanne Ryan’s young adult novel Nerve has been in the works for the past couple years over at Lionsgate, as we originally reported on the project back in 2014. Directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish, Paranormal Activity 3, Paranormal Activity 4), the film is finally headed our way, and now we know when to expect it.

Look for Nerve in theaters on September 16.

The film stars Emma Roberts, Dave Franco, and Juliette Lewis.

Jessica Sharzer, a writer and exec producer on “American Horror Story,” wrote the adaptation.

Synopsis:
Hard-working high school senior Vee DeMarco (Emma Roberts) has had it with living life on the sidelines. When she’s asked by the online game of Nerve – Are you a Watcher or a Player? – Vee decides to sign up for just one dare in what seems like a fun, harmless game. But as she finds herself caught up in the thrill of the adrenaline-fueled competition, the game begins to take a sinister turn with increasingly dangerous acts, leading her into a high stakes finale that will determine her entire future.
