We’re less than one year away from the release of director Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island, which will bring the mega-sized King Kong back to the screen for an all-new adventure. The film’s impressive cast is led by Tom Hiddleston, who seems pretty excited about the project. Read on!

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Hiddleston noted that Kong: Skull Island was shot in Hawaii, Australia, and Vietnam, and that all of the locales will come together on screen to play the role of the titular island. He also teased what we can expect from the blockbuster film.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who directed it, had this extraordinary idea,” said Hiddleston. “I don’t want to spoil too much… But it’s a whole new re-conception of the mythology. It essentially follows a group of disparate travelers and explorers and soldiers who travel to an undiscovered island in the South Pacific. And it’s set in a time period where you could conceive that there are still undiscovered places on the earth. What they find on the island is surprising, and then every character has a very different response to it.”

It’s going to be spectacular and epic,” he added, “but also the human drama is kind of interesting as well.”

Will Brittain, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Wilkinson, John C. Reilly, Toby Kebbell, Thomas Mann, Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, John Ortiz, Eugene Cordero, and Shea Whigham also star.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts directs from a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein. Producing are Legendary’s John Jashni and Thomas Tull as well as Mary Parent.

The film is about a man (Hiddleston) who travels to the mythical island and home of the king of the apes. A team of explorers venture inside what they find to be a treacherous island. The story is said to honor the King Kong lore but in a different time period.

Kong: Skull Island will hit theaters on March 10, 2017.
