Nintendo Direct Conference Confirms US Releases For Monster Hunter Generations And Lost Reavers

Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct has two interesting tidbits for horror gamers. Sadly though, there was still no full unveiling of the highly anticipated Zelda Wii U game that we’ve only seen brief snippets of so far, I guess we’ll have to wait for E3 for that.

Anyway, the 3DS game Monster Hunter X, which hit Japan last September, was confirmed for a US release, where it will be retitled Monster Hunter Generations.

Although Capcom’s RPG series that has you wandering the land searching for big and ugly creatures to destroy has yet to penetrate the mainstream in the western world, it’s utterly huge in Japan, where copies fly off shelves, and organised gameplay tournaments were popular even before eSports became a thing. We’ll see how well the latest instalment does in the US when it arrives in summer 2016.

The second game is a bit of an odd one. Bandai Namco’s Lost Reavers, which was released on the Wii U in Japan late last year, has you fighting zombies, skeletons and mummies with both swords and heavy artillery as you search for treasure deep within ancient tombs. It was designed as a multiplayer title but also features a single-player mode, and while the graphics don’t really look up to snuff, the online experience should make up for it. It hits the Wii U eshop in the US on April 28th.
