Back in September of last year, Todd told us about the popular creepypasta The Russian Sleep Experiment being turned into a novella, and now it’s available in yet another incarnation: a short film that you can watch right now online.

The Russian Sleep Experiment (RSE), realized as a 28-minute short film written and directed by Timothy Smith, is available for viewing on MINDPLATE.tv. Due to the popularity of the story, short film, and even the short’s trailer (see it below), the filmmakers are hopeful a feature can be made. Here’s a statement from them:

“RSE is one of the most popular creepypastas, appearing in and leading many ‘Top 10 Creepypastas’ lists. We want to make movie history by releasing the first feature-length creepypasta adaptation. Crowdfunding is happening at Indiegogo.”

Here’s the synopsis from Indiegogo, including casting so far:
Summer 1945, deep within the Soviet Union. A dedicated Russian scientist (Gary Brunner) begins an experiment on four Nazi war criminals. Felix Nast (Michael Bugard), Hanz Berlitz (Zach Ross), Ulrich Shultz (Brett Solferino), and Marek (?) are held within a sealed chamber for 30 days under the effects of an experimental sleep deprivation gas. These men are kept awake to confront their demons and fight psychological trauma, all while being methodically analyzed by the scientist.
