Clash of the Titans Sticking with 2D Format
There’s been a lot of speculation as to whether or not Louis Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans remake will be in 3D, particularly since the content seems to lend itself so well to the format, but the director has put the kibosh on that idea, stating, “We just won’t have time.“
In an interview with MTV Movies Blog, Leterrier discusses the pressure he faced and the effort his team put into trying to release the film in 3D. “We tried [to do 3D for ‘Clash’]. We tried hard. Maybe we possibly can re-release it in 3D.”
In addition, Lettier had to go on set every day and deal with star Sam Worthington and his Avatar experiences. “Because it was Sam, I could hear all these 3D stories from ‘Avatar.’ And James Cameron was calling often, and I was like ‘Guys, I’m doing the best I can with [the two dimensions] I’ve got!’ So if we ever get to do [‘Clash’] in 3D, that would be fantastic. But it’ll never be as good as James Cameron’s stereoscopic 3D.”
Lettier also confirmed that Matt Bellamy of Muse won’t be on the soundtrack but rather “Craig Armstrong is doing the score, and I called my friend Neil Davidge from Massive Attack to replace Matt. So it’ll be Craig Armstrong and Massive Attack, which is pretty exciting.”
Pretty exciting indeed. A 2D Kraken is better than no Kraken at all!
Look for this classic tale to hit theatres March 26th, 2010.
