As far as remakes are concerned, Steven Spielberg’s films are pretty much untouchable, both because they’re already perfect and because Spielberg simply won’t allow them to be remade. Despite recent rumors, this week he promises that Jaws will forever remain in the ’70s.
In an interview with Deadline, Spielberg made the following assertion…
“I would never remake one of my own movies — starting with Jaws — but there are Amblin titles in the library that could inspire new stories that were made popular by the films. There isn’t a single title that I’ve earmarked, but yes, I would like to. I will be discussing that with Jeff (Skoll) and Ronnie (Meyer) and Donna (Langley).”
“I would never remake Jaws,” he hammered home.
Of course, a Jurassic World-style sequel is still a possibility, and we’d welcome one with open arms!
