An update on the Roger Corman/Joe Dante/Corey Feldman collaboration for Netflix’s debut streaming web series, Splatter, crossed our desks this morning, and we’ve got all the details for you hot off the press.

The webisodes were conceived and produced by Mr. Corman, co-produced by Julie Corman, directed by horror auteur Joe Dante, and star Corey Feldman in the title role of rocker Johnny Splatter. The first episode of Splatter will launch on October 29 with the second installment scheduled for November 6 and the concluding episode slated for November 13 – yes, Friday the 13th.

In a plot twist, Mr. Corman, making his Internet video debut at age 83, is opening up the creative direction of the series by asking the public to vote on the fate of its characters. “When Netflix approached me with this unique idea, I was truly intrigued about creating something that left the ending up to the audience,” said Corman. “Making content for the web is a natural progression for me, but Splatter is a rare opportunity to involve my horror fans who really love being a part of the process.

Anyone in America can instantly watch the webisodes right here via computer; however, Netflix members will be able to instantly watch Splatter on their TVs via a range of Netflix ready devices at the conclusion of the series. Those devices include Netflix ready Blu-ray disc players and new Internet TVs from LG Electronics; Blu-ray disc players from Samsung; the Roku digital video player; Microsoft’s Xbox 360 game console; and TiVo digital video recorders.

Netflix is delighted to be working with such film luminaries as Roger Corman and Joe Dante to bring our instant streaming capabilities to life in a unique and creative way for horror fans across the country, said Leslie Kilgore, chief marketing officer for Netflix. “Splatter is a celebration of classic horror movies and gives fans of the genre an exciting way to sample watching instantly at Netflix.

Splatter is the haunting tale of rock-and-roll legend Johnny Splatter, a musical genius who accumulated as many hit records as he did enemies on his climb up the fame ladder. His sudden death, ruled a suicide, brings a small circle of professional parasites and hangers-on to his Hollywood Hills mansion for the reading of his last will and testament. But as his “frenmies” come to pick the bones clean, Johnny has returned for a deadly encore long after what they thought was his final curtain.

Check out a bunch of behind-the-scenes stills below, and be sure to catch the first episode of Splatter two weeks from today on October 29th.
