Synopsis:
TROUBLE SLEEPING is a psychological thriller about a high-strung, middle-aged woman whose stepson, Justin, is returning home. Four years ago, Justin discovered his beloved father’s body on the floor by the piano. The tragic events proved too much for the young man, so he spent the next four years in a mental hospital.

Our story begins with Justin’s psychiatrist telling his stepmom that Justin’s ready to come home. Dr. Gilbert warns that Justin will be “a little socio-behaviorally displaced for a while.” Despite the situation, Vanessa and her new husband, Alex, are determined to make the best of it; after all, in two weeks on his 21st birthday, Justin will take control of his inheritance, which includes the country estate they’re presently living on. However, Vanessa and her new, younger (quite handsome) husband have no intention of letting Justin get his hands on the money.

To top it all off, Alex has agreed to let Ph.D. student August Von Bullier stay at the estate while she researches a book on Vanessa’s late husband, Charles. But August is not the person she seems, and as she attempts to unravel the secrets of the house, Vanessa becomes suspicious of her presence, as she knows all too well Alex’s attractiveness to younger women.

While the four tortured souls play a treacherous game of cat and mouse, Vanessa is haunted by the ghost of her dead husband. It’s no wonder she can’t sleep…
