National treasure Robert Englund has been talking about the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise quite a bit in recent weeks, stating that he doesn’t want to see another remake of the original classic and even suggesting that New Line is actually intent on remaking sequel Dream Warriors.

But today, he just wants to clarify a rumor that has recently been circulating around the net.

It’s not uncommon for actors’ words to be twisted by the media, and when Englund recently remarked that he would like to see an Elm Street prequel, or perhaps even a big screen battle between Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers, many jumped to the conclusion that he wants to play Freddy again.

Just for the record, I will NOT be starring as Freddy in any new Nightmare projects, real or fictional,” Englund emphatically stated on Twitter. But it’s his follow-up tweet that is perhaps most telling, indicating that he wishes to be seen by horror fans as something more than just Freddy.

Check out The Last Showing with Finn Jones to see what I am really doing,” Englund tweeted, recommending a recent horror film he starred in.

Case. Closed.
