SDCC 09: Saw VI the Best One Yet?
At the San Diego Comic-Con, Dread Central was on hand to talk with Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan about their new film The Collector, which hits theaters this Friday.
While discussing their new original horror flick, the duo was ready to dish on Saw VI, which they are calling the finest script of the Saw franchise so far.
“Part VI is where the machine comes together and it’s the one that we are the most proud to be associated with,” explained Melton. “Kevin Greutert is a tremendous filmmaker and he’s been associated with the franchise from the beginning. He’s been the quiet uber-fan, taking notes, and now he gets his chance to show his stuff. I can tell you that he delivered. This is the first Saw film I’ve seen three times and love it more every time I watch it.”
“The performances are top notch, the traps are intense and the film delivers for the fans. It’s no secret that we had to earn back some of our cred, and this film will do it,” Melton added.
While most people working in the horror industry generally don’t care about what the mainstream critics think of their films (especially since horror films are really for the fans anyway), Dunstan is inviting the mainstream press to give Saw VI a watch.
Melton said, “We definitely want all the critics to see this one; we’re actually excited for them to. I would like to go on record to say that this is how confident we are in Saw VI: I am willing to stake my entire reputation on this movie.”
Fans will get a chance to judge for themselves when Saw VI invades theaters on October 23rd.
