“Shadowhunters” is set to debut in early 2016 on ABC Family, but the casting news hasn’t quite stopped yet.  Stephanie Bennett has been added in the guest starring role of Lydia Branwell, and if you’re looking forward to the series (which is based on the bestselling young adult fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare), read on for more details.

Bennett’s resume includes “Supernatural,” “iZombie,” Grave Encounters 2, and Leprechaun: Origins.

“Shadowhunters” follows 18-year-old Clary (Katherine McNamara), who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters — human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother, Jocelyn (Maxim Roy), is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and her best friend, Simon (Alberto Rosende). Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.

Per The Wrap, we can expect Bennett’s Lydia to be “a beautiful, no-nonsense young Shadowhunter who is an abrasive ‘badass.’ She has known terrible loss in her life, and she has become driven and harsh as a result — but under her hard shell lies considerable vulnerability.”

The cast also includes Jon Cor, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle, Isaiah Mustafa, Matthew Daddario as Alec, Harry Shum, Jr., and Alan Van Sprang in a recurring role.

“Shadowhunters” is produced by Constantin Film and executive produced by Ed Decter and McG. McG also directed the first episode.
