Guillermo del Toro Elaborates on Hellboy 3 Status; It’s Still Not Good!

Recently we bought you news that Ron Perlman feels he needs to do Hellboy 3. Now we have an update from Guillermo del Toro himself, thanks to /Film.

While promoting his TV series “The Strain,” del Toro sadly seemed to kill any flicker of hope of the film being made, saying that because it would need an increased budget, the studio heads are unlikely to greenlight it. The quote was as follows:

“Same status. I think that the fans want it, we want it, but studios… it’s a big movie, bigger than the first one and the second one. The numbers on the Hellboys made a lot of sense because of video. Hellboy II exists not because a studio head said. ‘I’m a big fan.’ The first one made money, made much more money on the Blu-ray and DVD than it did theatrically. It made money. Now that market is done.”

Well, we’ve been waiting for seven long years now. Guess we always knew deep down inside that it probably was never going to happen.
