Artist Redesigns Beloved General Mills Cereal Monsters
One of my favorite days of every year is the day the General Mills “monster cereals” return to stores, and with Halloween less than 100 days away, that day is near. It’s not uncommon for the company to redesign the classic mascots, and one artist has just taken it upon himself to do the same.
Mike Burns puts a relatively sinister spin on the beloved characters with these awesome art prints, turning Boo Berry, Franken Berry, and Count Chocula into monsters that are a little less kid-friendly than the ones found on the General Mills boxes.
“I had a blast coming up with these redesigns and painting the final illustrations,” said Burns. “It’s a lot of fun to put my own spin on familiar characters.”
Left out of the mix are Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy, two characters who didn’t last long in their original release and triumphantly returned to shelves a couple years back. Burns says he didn’t grow up with those characters, which is why they didn’t make the cut.
