Friday the 31st Celebrates the Slasher Genre with a New Trailer

If you crammed the most iconic slashers in the history of horror into an expensive food processor, the tasty blend might look something like Friday the 31st. Before you start pounding out angry thoughts on your keyboard, it’s worth noting that the project is a loving homage and not a blatant rip-off. The guys over at Greffrath Park Films clearly love the genre, and it’s evident in the new trailer.

As is the case more often than not these days, this indie production needs a little help (read: money) from potential fans. Greffrath Park Films has set up a Kickstarter campaign for Friday the 31st in the hopes of getting a little financial assistance with the production. Considering the vast number of slasher fans out there, they shouldn’t have any problem generating some cash.

Twin brothers Christopher and Robert Greffrath describe the project as a “glorified fan film of classic slasher films throughout Horror movie history. It takes inspiration from many, many different Horror films over the years, yet it contains an all new, original story with a character that feels as if it’s been around for ages. Jack Haddonfield may be a new legend, but legends are rooted in evil long before they are ever known, and the pumpkin face killer is no exception.”

In other words, this is a horror movie made by horror fans for horror fans. That’s certainly a tongue twister. The trailer and poster for Friday the 31st are included below.
