Trapdoor Pictures has released its new comedy/horror short, The Root of the Problem, online; and we have the details, plus the film itself, right here!

Described as a “slime-soaked” short filled with monsters and mayhem, The Root of the Problem was pitched as “Sam Raimi’s lost episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’.” The story follows the masks we all choose to wear and the secrets we decide to keep.

The Root of the Problem premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2013 and has been featured in multiple other festivals. It also won the Audience Award for Best Short Film at The Stanley Film Festival.

The short is directed by Ryan Spindell (Kirksdale), and starts Brea Grant (Halloween II) and Ptolemy Slocum (Would You Rather).

Synopsis:
In the candy-colored world of 1950s suburbia, a reluctant young housewife suspects that the friendly neighborhood dentist is hiding a horrible secret. Is it just the anesthesia at work, or is there something more sinister hiding below the surface?
