Carpenter & Hawkins Star in Red Sparrow’s Vivid
Is it wrong that as soon as I hear the name Vivid, all I can think of is the adult DVD distributor of the same name? No? Good! Moving on … Variety announced yesterday that UK production house Red Sparrow is launching its first film, the $1.2 million Vivid, which will be helmed by Reg Traviss.
Ricci Harnett, former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star Charisma Carpenter and The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins will star, as does a girl we’re all fans of here at Dread Central, horror journalist turned author/actress Axelle Carolyn. Carpenter will portray a New York novelist who moves to rural England, where she’s rejected by mistrusting locals and plagued by visions of a horrific massacre that took place there years before.
Vivid is set to roll in London and Somerset in the next few months. Red Sparrow also has a film in the works called Bone Orchard, described as a Western with Chinese vampires, with John Landis attached to helm. Strange, indeed. They’ve also got Cockneys vs Zombies in the pipeline as well.
And speaking of further films, Carolyn recently announced on her MySpace page another starring role, that of a spirit who haunts the empty city whose lone resident happens to be the last man on earth. It’s called Straw Man and you can dig on its MySpace page right here.
