The San Diego Comic-Con is a maddeningly busy event and it’s hard to stay on top of every little thing. We try though, damn it, and as a result we’ve nailed down a couple of interesting tidbits for you.
The MUST-HAVE fastest selling collectible at the show for horror fans was easily NECA’s 8-Bit Jason figure which was based upon LJN’s Nintendo Entertainment System game Friday the 13th. Most of their stock sold on Preview Night and the remainder was gone by Thursday morning. Those of you who got it, consider yourselves lucky. The rest of you are unfortunately subject to the despicable price gougers with no interest in the figure who bought it just to sell it. Hopefully NECA will release it again, if only to spite those bastards.
Speaking of selling, NECA hinted that given the success of the product, they may just release an 8-Bit Freddy figure that would be based upon LJN’s Nintendo Entertainment System game A Nightmare on Elm Street. NECA teased that announcement via Twitter in response to a fan who had inquired about the possibility, stating that they would need to see how Freddy looked “all orange” as he was in the game.
Also in their Twitter feed it was revealed that they have secured the license to create figures based upon Legendary and Warner Bros.’ upcoming version of Godzilla. They’re looking to create both small-scale and large-scale versions. Very exciting!
Stay tuned.
