‘What Happened To Dorothy Bell?’ Director Danny Villanueva Jr. On His Haunted Library Found Footage Horror
For his feature film debut What Happened to Dorothy Bell?, writer and director Danny Villanueva, Jr. decided to use found footage techniques to tell a story about a haunted library, an urban legend, and a young woman (played by Asya Meadows) trying to learn more about her past to break cycles of generational trauma. Along with way, Villanueva, Jr. delivers plentiful scares before landing on a heartbreaking conclusion.
During Fantastic Fest 2024 (where the film had its world premiere), we spoke with Villanueva, Jr. about finding the perfect library for his feature film debut.
