Hot and Heavy: 9 Sexy Summer Horror Films That Turn Up The Heat

It doesn’t need to be summer to enjoy summer horror and feel immersed in the heat, the sweat, or daytime horror antics. However, it’s certainly fun to turn on horror films that feature people sweating absolute buckets during a typically hot time of year. And it’s also tremendous when said summer horror features hot people who may very well reflect the atmosphere they’re dying in.
There’s no need to wag a finger at yourself for enjoying the bloody visuals, as well as the hot individuals in a horror film. Summer horror encourages that and revels in it. Whether it’s the slashers that slice their way into our hearts, body horror that makes our eyes widen, or classic ‘80s horror.
The following are several summer horror films that feature casts full of hotties. Sure, you may know about these films, but maybe you need a reminder about just how gorgeous their casts are. So hold on to your bucket hats, grab your icy drink of choice, and try to avoid the abandoned summer camps. We’re going on a very hot summer road trip!
The Lost Boys (1987)
People can be strange and also hot at the same time. The Lost Boys follows brothers and a single mother who move to California to live with their grandfather. But soon, the brothers discover the town is inhabited by vampires. It’s a quintessential summer horror film and has something for everyone, whether you’re interested in mysterious women like Star (Jami Gertz) or have eyes for Michael (Jason Patric) and David (Kiefer Sutherland). Also, vampires are inherently queer and typically hot, so you know what you’re getting with this one!
I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)
A group of pretty people who make an incredibly horrible decision isn’t uncommon in slashers. I Know What You Did Last Summer follows a group who leave a man for dead and are stalked a year later by a killer who brandishes a hook. As far as 1990s slashers go, this film is up there in terms of being essential viewing for slasher enthusiasts. And it’s obvious to say that the main cast is smokin’ hot. Sarah Michelle Gellar alone is enough for I Know What You Did Last Summer to make this list.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
There’s nothing quite like running away from a chainsaw-wielding maniac in Texas. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre follows a road trip gone wrong when a group of friends meet Leatherface and his family. It’s a top-tier horror remake that revs up and never stops until the bitter end. But it also has Jessica Biel in a white tank top, and need I say more about that? And if you also or solely need sweaty as well as distressed men? You’ve got them in this, and you won’t be disappointed in the visuals, trust me.
Wrong Turn (2003)
A staple in the rural horror subgenre is exactly what this film can be constituted as. Wrong Turn follows six people who get lost in an isolated area of West Virginia and are hunted by a cannibalistic inbred family. Just like other early aughts horror, gorgeous women wearing white tank tops aren’t so uncommon. Therefore, Eliza Dushku (who most of you know from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) immediately makes sure this film qualifies as part of the list. It’s a schlocky slasher with lots of death and no shortage of now-dated fashion.
House of Wax (2005)
This is an example of a horror remake that’s not as bad as you might think or remember it to be. House of Wax follows friends whose football road trip is detoured, and they stumble upon a creepy town that isn’t what it seems. The remake is actually quite solid, relatively underrated, and features more than a few people who had a lot of people’s attention in the 2000s. Not to mention, Paris Hilton’s chase scene is quite good, and the practical effects are perfectly gross. It’s a slasher that does what it needs to do, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Death Proof (2007)
Imagine defeating a serial killer with your thrill-seeking friends. How cool would that be? Death Proof follows a serial killer and stuntman named Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) who likes to use his stunt vehicle to kill people. But when he messes with the wrong group of friends, he gets in way over his head. It’s a film that relishes in how gorgeous the women are, and some of them also get to kick ass at the same time. You almost can’t ask for more than that in a summer horror flick, especially when it’s written and directed by Quentin Tarantino
The Ruins (2008)
Vines that kill you shouldn’t be as horrifying as they are in this body horror gem. The Ruins follows a group of friends who travel to Mexico and then find themselves in a perilous situation when they’re chased to the top of Mayan ruins inhabited by sinister vines. Of course, an attractive group of folks being slowly driven mad by vines is typically the route for many body horror films. In this one, you get Jonathan Tucker, Jena Malone, Shawn Ashmore, and Laura Ramsey. You’ll enjoy this one if any of those individuals sound appealing.
Friday the 13th (2009)
It gets too much hate from the overall fandom, but the Friday the 13th reboot is actually a solid film in the franchise. Friday the 13th follows Clay (Jared Padalecki), who is looking for his sister and is forced to join up with a group of friends that are being targeted by Jason (Derek Mears). The reboot takes all the components of a typical Friday the 13th film and blends them into a tasty smoothie: hot people getting picked off by Jason in whatever ways he sees fit. If you like to watch that and want a more modern take on the franchise, you may very well enjoy this reboot.
X (2022)
A soundtrack that slaps and a very 1970s slasher is perfectly captured in the first film in Ti West’s trilogy. X follows an adult film crew whose stay on farmland turns deadly when the elderly couple is revealed to be murderous. Considering the premise of the film, there’s a heavy presence of sex, and the cast is packed to the gills with hot folks. And they all understood the assignment in their roles. If you’re seeking a modern horror film that’s soaked in ‘70s exploitation horror, you likely won’t be disappointed.
