I don’t want to say the rap song that plays during to closing credits of The Monster Squad is cheesy, but if it were any cheesier, listening to it would be considered hazardous to the health of people that suffer from lactose intolerance.

Cyndi Lauper was one of the biggest music stars at the time she sang the praises of The Goonies. The best the kids of the Goonies-meets-Universal Monsters The Monster Squad could get was a group of musicians who preferred to hide their anonymity behind the fictitious one-time-only band monikered after the movie. One can kind of understand their wanting to remain uncredited since the rap number that heralds the triumph of The Monster Squad is both endearingly charming and undeniably dopey. To not take proper credit for their memorable contribution to movie music, whoever these singers are, they certainly did not have nards.

Possibly the most redundant B-Sides ever, here’s “The Monster Squad” performed by a band calling themselves “The Monster Squad” rapping about the kids that call themselves “The Monster Squad” in the motion picture The Monster Squad.
