Platinum Dunes

The official Platinum Dunes website got an update today with the very first picture from the set of Friday the 13th. Before getting too excited, only producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form appear in the pic. There's no Jason for you ... yet.

Platinum Dunes, in their neverending quest to remake anything they can toss some sweat and dirt on, have been eyeing up who would be the best pick to script the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. Was their choice going to go over well with genre fans? Maybe...

Over the past month or so, we've seen a number of young, beautiful people being picked up to populate Camp Crystal Lake. While some argue that this isn't doing any favors to the series, I beg to differ. If we look back through the years, can you honestly say that the F13 franchise has been so much more than just pretty people getting hacked up? Bring it on! Let's see the new generation take on Jason, why not?

Some final casting bits found their way online today for the upcoming Friday the 13th sequel, which starts rolling very soon over in Austin, TX under the direction of Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake helmer Marcus Nispel.

Of all the horror icons, Freddy Krueger is my favorite. The first horror film I watched was A Nightmare on Elm Street, and from then on I was hooked. It didn't matter what others thought of the sequels; I was glued to the franchise. So, what should one think when this series is put into some questionable hands?

The trades are reporting this morning that the final specifics of a long-gestating deal between Michael Bay’s remake machine production house Platinum Dunes and the Universal spin-off studio Rogue Pictures have finally been settled, and the deal is in place.
