A few weeks back I sat down with my Hellraiser Blu-ray, mindful of the fact that it was soon to be dusted off and dragged back to the multiplexes for a whole new generation of horror fans. It’s a hard film to picture existing with modern day sensibilities.

Clive Barker on Hell, Meat & More!

Simply calling Clive Barker a master of horror almost seems inadequate. A more fitting description might be to describe him as a visionary genius who has had a profound effect on the horror industry by not only setting the bar with visceral and sexual imagery but by also leaving his mark in the literary world for almost 30 years now.

Barker Praises New Hellraiser Helmer

I remember when the gents behind Inside (review) were attached to the Hellraiser remake, Clive Barker had a lot of overwhelmingly positive things to say about the duo. Then they were removed from the project, and the world got a little less cool.

    Tunnicliffe's Got a Pinhead

    Oh, man, this is just sad. Gary Tunnicliffe is one of the best FX guys in the business. If anyone’s going to take on a new Pinhead design, I’d be happy with what he could come up with, especially since he worked on the design for the last few direct-to-DVD entries. Even though his phone never rang when Dimension started planning their Hellraiser remake, that didn’t stop him from trying!

    Martyrs Director on Hellraiser Redux?

    The Weinsteins can’t seem to make up their mind as to who should be at the helm of their ill-conceived Hellraiser remake, having cycled through both the team who made Feast and the team who made Inside, but at least they seem to have settled on using a French director.

    Yes, it sucked when the guys who made Inside (review) were told their script for the Hellraiser remake wasn’t what the Weinstein Co. was looking for. Andrew had a nice tirade about it in the last Dinner for Fiends, actually, give it a listen. But this new development is promising...

    Hellraiser Returns in 2009?

    Last we heard, the Hellraiser remake totally vanished from the Weinstein's slate (“Hellraiser Redux Moves” – January 2008). Some of us this project was as doomed as anyone who ever opened the Lament Configuration.

    Hellraiser Remake Dead?

    Though I tried to put a positive spin on it when it was originally announced ("Barker to Pen Hellraiser Remake" - October 2006), the possibility that the remake of Hellraiser that was so full-speed ahead not too long ago might be dead in the water is nothing but a relief.

    Barker to Pen Hellraiser Remake

    Well, this is unexpected; though I guess in reality we should’ve seen it coming. The official resource for all things Clive Barker, Revelations, just got the exclusive word from the man that Bob Weinstein has invited him to write a remake of his directorial debut, Hellraiser, and Barker has agreed!
