Over the weekend I got a call from our man Andrew Kasch, video editor extraordinaire, who gave us a heads up on a new project he’s working on for Michael Felsher's Red Shirt Pictures, those badasses who’ve done supplemental material for DVDs like The Monster Squad and Hellraiser.

We first gave you a look at the upcoming “Skull Set” packaging for Anchor Bay’s release of Masters of Horror: The Complete Second Season during the LA Weekend of Horrors, but today we got an “official” glimpse at it thanks to the good fiends at AB.

Universal has finally set a date for the DVD release of Neil Marshall’s Doomsday (review), a movie that, at best, divided fans as to its validity since it was really one big homage. But damnit, it was done the right way if you ask me!

How many horror fans have stayed awake all night wondering when a Collector's Edition of Universal's Van Helsing would be available. Would they again get to see vampires fly around in daylight? Couches that can kill Kate Beckinsale? Beloved monsters getting the bastard treatment? Plenty of plot holes to trash even the most hardened drinking game veteran?

Creepy checked in from the Weekend of Horrors again sometime throughout the night while I was resting, and sent along the pic you see below; Anchor Bay’s packaging for Masters of Horror: Season 2! Though I appreciated the “crypt case” Season One came in, this does seem far more appropriate. How they’ll be fitting the discs in there is, thankfully, not for me to figure out ... No word on a solid street date for it, either. Keep it here for more news from the Weekend of Horrors soon!

Wow, they sure are pretty, ain’t they? I guess, for its time, the guys and gals in the first film were, too, so you really can’t complain too much. And hey, at least they kept the font from the original for Lost Boys: The Tribe, which hits DVD this summer.

UPDATE: Lionsgate has just released the DVD specs for Trapped Ashes to Fangoria!. Expect to see "director’s cut" versions of Monte Hellman and Ken Russell's stories. There will also be a "Making Of" featurette, deleted scenes and cast/crew commentaries!

David R. Ellis wants to commit us to the Asylum on July 15th! However, we won't be seeing the Snakes on a Plane (review) director's newest feature in theatres; instead it'll only be on DVD.

What strikes me most funny about this article is the reference in the very first line to “the booming horror genre”. Like horror’s never made money before? Like it’s this newly discovered method of getting a lot for a little?
