Finally we can all stop our complaining, hemming, and hawing because Paramount has announced its initial Blu-Ray lineup, and of course Cloverfield is on it.
Following The Spiderwick Chronicles, Face/Off and Next, the Blu-Ray edition of Cloverfield will land in stores on June 3rd. New to the disc will be the feature-length “Special Investigation Mode” with “added details about the film”, whatever that means.
Commentaries, making-ofs, deleted scenes, and alternate endings will also be included; Blu-Ray’s got a lot of space to fill so I hope they make this worth the double dip that I’m sure it’ll be to most of us!
We’ll get you art as soon as we can; stay tuned!
Ponder how much you really hemmed and/or hawed in the Dread Central forums!

I bought the standard DVD, sure. Patience was not an issue. If they announced the Blu-Ray release the same time as the standard and they were both available to own the same day I would hav gotten the standard DVD anyway.
I said in the earlier news story about the initial announcement of DVD release the same thing MM said - for a movie made to look like shit, why am I going to spend more $$ to see crap quality in hi-def? I'm not.
As Kryten said, it's annoying that they did not announce the date when they announced the other. It's a shify practice...as when there was no Blu-Ray release dates stated fo The Mist or There Will Be Blood. You know they are coming out, but no date has been issued yet, none that I am aware of.
It's a BS double dipping shenanigan.
MM, I want the crispest picture possible so I can, hopfully, see the monster in this monster movie.
Heh. I find it hilarious that a film made to intentionally look like an amateur video is being released on Blu-Ray. Kinda defeats the point, no?
I didn't buy the DVD, so patience isn't the issue. It's the fact that Paramount didn't bother to announce the blu-ray edition until afterwards.
Really? Did you guys not think that a BD edition wasn't coming out? And you didn't have the patience to wait and see, since Paramount hadn't announced ANY BD releases? Jesus...
Yeah seriously. That pisses me off.
nice of them to wait until after the DVD release to confirm a blu-ray edition.
Nope. I'm not going to double dip.
