Some more casting news has come in for Nicolas Winding Refn’s new film, The Neon Demon. Deadline is reporting that Refn’s choice to star with Elle Fanning in the project is Abbey Lee, the Australian supermodel-turned-actress who co-starred in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road for Warner Bros. and Gods of Egypt for Summit/Lionsgate.

Lee’s negotiating to play the role of Sarah, a cool ringleader that other girls want to follow. Envious, emotionally unstable, and a tad delusional, she shows her true maniacal colors in the end.

Refn said of The Neon Demon, “One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty.

Refn’s regular collaborators, editor Matthew Newman and composer Cliff Martinez, will be joined by The Grandmaster director of photography Philippe Le Sourd on the film. Refn’s partner, Lene Borglum, will produce under their Space Rocket banner.
