A new chapter in the life of the highly acclaimed film Banshee Chapter (review here) is about to open as the flick is poised and ready to become the first to take terror to a brand new level!

Indie development studio Jamwix announced today that they’ve created software called CHIMERA that allows feature films to be distributed in an incredibly immersive 3D experience within the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. The first feature film released for the Oculus Rift is the award-winning horror film BANSHEE CHAPTER distributed in the U.S. by XLrator Media.
Beginning today, BANSHEE CHAPTER: OCULUS RIFT EDITION will be available for free via Jamwix.com.

Winner of the “Scariest Film” award at both the 2013 London FrightFest and Toronto’s After Dark Film Festival, BANSHEE CHAPTER centers on a young online journalist who follows the disturbing trail of a missing friend and a mind-altering chemical developed in secret 1973 CIA experiments. The story is often described as a modern re-imagining of an H.P. Lovecraft tale fused with real life facts.
BANSHEE CHAPTER was produced by Sunchaser Entertainment’s Stephanie Riggs, Before the Door’s Corey Moosa and Sean Akers, and Christian Arnold-Beutel. The film stars Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs), Katia Winter (“Sleepy Hollow”), and Michael McMillian (“True Blood”). For those who don’t have an Oculus to experience it, a 2D release of the movie is available on iTunes, Amazon, Netflix, and other digital platforms.
