If you thought Godzilla was the only mega-sized Kaiju gearing up for a return to the big screen, then think again. Read on for the first details about a Gamera reboot, headed our way in 2015!
The Good, The Bad, and Godzilla reports that the rumors of a 50th anniversary Gamera film are true and were recently confirmed by a Japanese publication called Heisei Gamera: Perfections, which chronicles the history of the many Gamera sequels.
According to the book, the film is currently in pre-production, and the titular monster is set to come to life in a "surprising new form." The narrative is set in the modern day, and the working tagline at the moment promises, "Something is out there..."
Producer Shigenori Takatera is at the helm, and the site expects to learn more real soon.
The original Gamera was released in 1965 to capitalize on the success of Godzilla. Only makes sense that Gamera would return shortly after Godzilla stomps his way back into theaters!
