Robert Kirkman Talks The Walking Dead Spin-Off
Given the immense popularity of "The Walking Dead," a spin-off series was only a matter of time. IGN caught up with creator Robert Kirkman, who shed a bit of light on what to expect once it arrives.
Kirkman - who is shepherding the spin-off along with fellow "The Walking Dead" executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert - confirmed that the new series will be set in a “different location” and feature “completely different people,” adding, “It definitely won’t be set in Georgia… It’s important to us that this show exists on its own. The spin-off has to be a show worthy of existing, or else we’ve all sold out.”
In Season 4 of "The Walking Dead," we find Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the group fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison. Sadly, in this brutal world happiness is short-lived, and walkers and outside threats are no match for danger brewing inside the fences. The group’s home and new way of life will be thoroughly tested, and their struggle to survive has never been so perilous. Season 4 also introduces several new characters including Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard, Jr., "The Wire").
