Sink Your Fangs into Scream Factory’s Love at First Bite/Once Bitten Double Feature Blu-ray

With Halloween season now officially here, it comes as no surprise that Scream Factory would kick off the month of October with a surprise announcement. Announcing a double-feature Blu-ray of the vampire comedies Love at First Bite and Once Bitten is definitely a surprise.
Scream Factory is showing some love for the lighter side of horror with news that they’ll be releasing a pair of romantic horror comedies together on Blu-ray for the first time ever.
First up, George Hamilton does disco Dracula in the 1979 Love at First Bite.
Dracula has never been so funny and dashing – to say nothing of being an awesome disco dancer – as in this “delightful movie with a bang-up cast” (The New York Times) led by the epitome of suave, George Hamilton, and featuring first-rate performances from Susan Saint James, Richard Benjamin, Dick Shawn, Arte Johnson, Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford!
Evicted from Transylvania, Dracula (Hamilton) goes to New York to make Cindy (Saint James), a model with an old soul, his eternal bride. To his delight, she quickly falls for his necking style. But when her would-be boyfriend (Benjamin), a descendant of the vampire-killing Van Helsings, meets his romantic rival, he’s determined to put a stake in the count’s plans!
Regarding a problem with previous releases of the film, here’s what Scream Factory had to say on their Facebook:
We are aware that prior DVD versions of the film were altered, specifically during a key moment in a disco in which the song “I Love the Nightlife” song (sung by Alicia Bridges) was replaced by another track. We are doing our best to correct this and will keep you posted on the progress.
Paired with it is the 1985 virgin-hunting vampire comedy starring a still unknown comedian named Jim Carrey. Unfortunately, Once Bitten got staked at the box office so Carrey’s career would have to wait a few more years before becoming a bona fide superstar.
Comedy superstar Jim Carrey plays a hot-blooded teen who becomes the reluctant donor to a sultry and extremely thirsty nocturnal nymph (Lauren Hutton) in this funny’ sexy (Boxoffice) send-up of the horror genre!
Mark (Carrey) has just one thing on his mind: going all the way. But while his girlfriend keeps telling him he has to wait, he meets a beautiful vampire countess (Hutton) who’s ready for action! Mark’s just happy to get past second base but after a one-night stand with the sexy seductress, Mark starts behaving more than a little batty and realizes he must find a way to break his lover’s fiendish spell…or be prepared to work the graveyard shift forever!
No details on extras just yet.
Look for the double feature Blu-ray around Valentine’s Day 2015.
