During this past summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Legendary Pictures will be bringing King Kong back to the big screen for a Skull Island movie, and now the flick has both a lead actor and a director attached. Read on for the details!
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hiddleston (pictured; Loki in Marvel’s Thor and Avengers films, Only Lovers Left Alive) will star. Legendary already has a relationship with Hiddleston, who co-stars in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Gothic horror film Crimson Peak.
Indie helmer Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer, Metal Gear Solid) will direct the film, which is based on an original script by Max Borenstein.
Previous works have touched on the island, but staying and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside its rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions.
Universal Pictures, which owns the King Kong property, will release Skull Island on November 4, 2016.
