Release Date Shuffle: Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters Bumped by a Year; Detention Well on its Way
Alrighty then! Get out your planners, kids. It's time to change a couple of things around. Don't forget to use pencil instead of pen because you just never know. Ready? Good! Let's begin.
Look for Joseph Kahn's genre mash-up Detention, starring Josh Hutcherson, Spencer Locke, Parker Bagley, Dane Cook and Richard Brake, to hit limited theatres on April 6th with Sony handling the DVD and Blu-ray releases a little further down the road.
And sadly... Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola's next flick, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, starring Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen, Zoe Bell and Peter Stormare, has taken a massive bump from Paramount, who's moving it into a release slot of January 11, 2013 (instead of the previously announced March 2, 2012).
We'll have more if anything changes.

sigh...I was just excited to see Tommy Wirkola's second movie. I had fun with Dead Snow (yes I know its a big "I love Raimi/Jackson" horror movie but I was okay with that)

The reason why Hansel & Gretel got pushed back a year is because the studio doesn't have faith in the film's star power and how a year from now after MI:4, The Avengers, and the new Jason Bourne movie he's starring in that Jeremy Renner will be a bigger star internationally.

It's pretty stupid thinking. A movie like this doesn't sell on star power. I'm disappointed to have to wait.
